1 2021 08-07-2021 National Webinar on 'Importance of Cultural Heritage in NEP-2020: Issues and Challenges' A national level seminar was organised on 'Importance of Cultural Heritage in NEP-2020: Issues and Challenges". Prof. Ranjana Roy, Professor Emeritus(UGC) and Former HOD of Calcutta University delivered the key note address. Professors and scholars of anthropology from different colleges and universities across India took part in the event. Dr. Lila Kanta Barthakur, Principal of Morigaon College delivered the inaugural lecture. The program was moderated by Dr. Nilofar Jasmin of the Department of Anthropology. Dr. Dipali Das Talukdar proposed vote of thanks.
2 2021 13-11-2021 Alumni Meet Talk on ” Covid -19 and Online Education: Merits and Demerits”. A meeting was organized in the department on, ” Covid -19 and online education: Merits and Demerits”. The Resource person was MS. Momi Bora, subject teacher of English, Morigaon Girls’ Higher Secondary School who discussed the pros and cons of online education as it was the only mode of education during covid 19 pandemic. Dr. Arunima Sarma, Department of Chemistry of Morigaon College addressed the alumni and delivered a lecture on career guidance. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Dipali das Talukdar and vote of thanks was proposed by. Mr. Bibeka Nanda Sarma, Assstt. Professor, Department of Anthropology.
3 2023 24-04-2023 International Workshop on “ Competency Development of Tertiary Level Learners and Early Career Research for Diversity Conservation in NE India with Reference to UN-SDGs” The workshop was organized on 24/04/2023 in association with department of Zoology, Geography and Botany. It was held in the seminar hall. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Lila kt Barthakur, the Principal, of Morigaon College. The resource person was Dr. Ramesh ‘Zimboo’ BoonRatan, Primate specialist from Thailand. The students of all the departments actively participated in the workshop. Dr. Boonratan advocated to prepare a action plan and work accordingly for biodiversity conservation.
4 2023 05-04-2023 Soft Skill Training on Computing (Power Point) A three days training programme was organized in the department for 5th semester students on powerpoint preparation and presentation. Dr. Nilofar Jasmin was the resource person. Each student learned and prepared at least ten numbers of slides and presented.
5 2023 18-04-2023 CELEBRATION OF WORLD HERITAGE DAY : (International Day for Monuments and Sites) The International Day for Monuments and Sites wass Celebrated by the department of Anthropology on April 18.2023. Dr. Lila Kanta Barthakur, Principal, Morigaon College was the Chief guest of the day. In his speech, Dr. Barthakur suggested to prepare a list of heritage sites of Morigaon district to display in the department and also to organize site visits for the students. Dr. Hemalata Sarma, Vice-principal of Morigaon College delivered a lecture on importance of the heritage preservation. Dr. Deepak Kalita, HOD, department of History delivered a lecture on the intangible heritage of culture. Mrs. Ami Devi, Head of the Department of Botany, Morigaon College was invited as an appointed speaker. She has elaborately explained various heritages of Assam and particularly of Morigaon district. Teachers and students of various departments participated in the event.
6 2023 25-03-2023 Parent-Teachers Meet-2023 The Parent -Teachers Meet of the department of Anthropology was organized on 25/03/2023. Parents of students of the department (Honours in Anthropology) were invited. The meeting was held in the Seminar hall. It was initiated by Dr. Nilofar Jasmin, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology. After lighting the lamp the Principal of the college Dr. Lila Kt. Barthakur delivered his welcome speech. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Dipali das Talukdar, HOD, Department of Anthropology. students sang a group song before Vice-principal, Dr Hemalata Sarma addressed the guardian. The parents discussed their problems and expectations with the teachers. Mr. Bibekananda Sarma, Assistant Professor, Anthropology, proposed vote of thanks .
7 2023 13-03-2023 Extenstion Activity : 1 An extension activity was organized in the 2no. Marakolong village of Morigaon district Assam on 13/03/2023. A total 70 numbers of students all the teachers and villagers took part in the programme. Villagers were gathered in the Namghar premises and The BMI and Blood Pressure was measured and discussed about common diseases and remedies. Students also collected data about traditional knowledge systems of health and health problems.
